Roy

Roy is an AI-powered legal intelligence platform designed to give legal departments, in-house counsel, and law firms greater control over how artificial intelligence is used for legal research and analysis. Built specifically around French and European law, Roy combines generative AI with authoritative legal sources, transparent reasoning, access controls, and detailed traceability. Its goal is not to replace legal professionals or make decisions on their behalf, but to help them research, analyze, and structure legal questions while keeping professional judgment firmly in human hands.

The platform is built on continuously monitored official sources of French and European law, including Légifrance, the Cour de cassation, the Conseil d’État, the Conseil constitutionnel, CNIL, the Journal officiel, EUR-Lex, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Court of Human Rights, BODACC, INPI, and data.gouv.fr. Roy states that it monitors 28 official sources and has indexed approximately two million French court decisions. This extensive legal corpus provides the foundation for its research and reasoning capabilities.

One of Roy's central principles is source-based legal analysis. Rather than presenting conclusions as unexplained AI-generated answers, the platform connects its analyses to dated and identifiable legal sources. Users can follow the sources consulted, compare different interpretations, and understand the reasoning behind a conclusion. This approach is particularly useful when lawyers need to defend an analysis before executives, judges, investors, clients, or other stakeholders.

Roy also emphasizes governance and controlled AI adoption within legal teams. Legal departments can manage authorized sources, user roles, access rights, and usage across lawyers and teams. An executive console can provide visibility into activity such as active users, legal searches, matters processed, and token consumption. This allows organizations to establish a structured framework around AI use rather than leaving individual lawyers to use different AI tools without centralized oversight.

The platform is designed to support complex legal research workflows. Roy can qualify a legal question, research relevant case law, confront different doctrinal interpretations, and structure the resulting analysis. When important legal choices or conflicting interpretations arise, the platform can present these alternatives to the lawyer instead of making the final decision itself. This human-in-the-loop approach helps ensure that the legal professional remains responsible for the position ultimately adopted.

Roy also integrates with existing information systems and document environments. Organizations can connect their document spaces through tools such as SharePoint and Google Drive, while SSO and SAML support can help integrate authentication and access management into existing IT environments. The platform is designed so that an organization's documents remain within its information environment while access follows established permissions.
