Gesture Synth transforms webcam hand movements into live music controls with no installation.
Gesture Synth is a free interactive browser instrument that turns two-hand webcam movements into musical controls. In Gesture mode, the left hand selects harmonic degrees and chords, while the right hand adjusts chord style, volume, filter tone, harmony and octave. Theremin mode provides continuous pitch and volume control for expressive melodies and sound experiments. Musicians can also build arrangements with a four-track loop sequencer featuring tempo controls, multiple time signatures, editable steps, track levels, mute and solo options, and local WAV or WebM export. Guided practice tools help beginners learn familiar public-domain melodies one gesture at a time. The application runs directly in a compatible web browser without software installation, an account, a subscription or a MIDI controller. Webcam frames are processed locally for hand-landmark detection and are not uploaded or stored as video recordings. Gesture Synth does not require microphone access, making it useful for musicians, educators, students, performers and creative coding experiments.
